Colours of Malaysia • Kuala Lumpur International Hotel

Inspired by Malaysia’s vibrant visual palette, this installation transforms colourful polyester ropes into a graphic architectural feature within a series of customised frames.

Rather than simply filling the space with colour, the ropes are carefully routed across the frames in criss-cross formations, creating layers of intersecting lines, changing angles and visual rhythm. The arrangement gives the installation a strong graphic quality while adding depth and movement to the interior.

Behind the visual composition is a customised connection system developed to support the installation. Specialised fittings accommodate the rope connections at each frame, helping to maintain consistent positioning, alignment and tension across the different rope runs. Each connection is carefully coordinated so that the individual lines follow their intended paths and come together as one cohesive composition.

The result is a balance between colour, geometry and technical detailing — where the rope itself becomes part of the architectural language, while the fittings work quietly behind the visual expression.

From the overall colour arrangement to the smallest connection point, every element is coordinated to bring the design from concept into the built space.
